Glenmore Landing – Public Hearing Dec 3 – Change of Use to Allow High Rise Residential

On December 3, 2024, City Council will hold a Public Hearing, where Planning and Administration will seek approval to rezone Glenmore Landing’s green space, to permit high-rise residential development. This first phase targets only the berms on the east and south sides of Glenmore Landing and is part of an overall plan that includes 15 high rises, some reaching 30 stories.

Your Community Association stands for thoughtful development. Glenmore Landing is already surrounded by existing towers and apartments, townhouses, seniors’ homes, and upcoming density from nearby developments. Initially proposed as a transit-friendly and affordable project, this plan now includes high-end condos with significant underground parking. We are deeply concerned about:

  • Traffic congestion and pedestrian safety at the entrances and intersections on 14th St. and 90th Ave.
  • Strains on Calgary’s Glenmore Reservoir,  our drinking water and existing sewer lines as construction, 6 levels of underground parking, and thousands of people in a tight space increases stress,  and risks infrastructure failures like we experienced all summer.
  • Environmental Impact on Reservoir Parklands and wildlife
  • Long construction timelines, noise, and disruption
  • Overburdening of parks, schools and other facilities as new developments with Taza, JCC and Blanket Rezoning intensely increase density
  • We don’t have an Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) to guide development in our community.

Please join us at City Hall on December 3 to make our voices heard!   Wear yellow to show support. We’re arranging transportation if needed, RSVP at secretary@pbpcommunity.ca.  We will update when there’s more info on timing, at pbpcommunity.ca.

Help us preserve and protect our community by sharing this with friends in Oakridge, Haysboro, Braeside, and beyond.

Thank you for supporting your community in this important time in its history.
